GCDP calls of indefinite hunger strike

COOCHBEHAR (WB): Greater Cooch Behar Democratic Party (GCDP) withdrew its indefinite hunger strike plan which was supposed to start on Saturday.
    
Following arrest of three persons in connection with the attack on a GCDP leader the hunger strike plan was withdrawn, GCDP sources said.
    
Party sources alleged that a gang of armed CPI(M) supporters had attacked GCDP supporters at Uttar Nababganj Balasi village of Dewanhat under Cooch Behar Kotowali police station on Thursday night. In that incident Md Ruhul Mian, a local GCDP leader, received severe injury in his head.
    
Demanding arrest of the persons involved in the attack the GCDP yesterday had called for an indefinite hunger strike from Saturday, GCDP president Ashutosh Barma
    
Among the eight persons named in the FIR three were arrested last night following which GCDP called the indefinite hunger strike.
