TN CM offers relief for people killed in the state

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Wednesday announced a sum of Rs 55.30 lakh a ex-gratia to various persons killed in the state in the last two months.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Wednesday announced a sum of Rs 55.30 lakh a ex-gratia to various persons killed in the state in the last two months in different incidents like mishaps, lightning strike and drowning.

The amount, part of which had been already distributed to the kin of the deceased, has been disbursed from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, he told the state assembly.

The victims range from infants killed due to vaccine shots to Government employees killed in road mishaps.

The relief was made in response to the requests made by the MLAs of the respective constituencies, he said.
