KOLKATA: Having been docked ten per cent of his match fees for kicking down the stumps during an Indian Premier League match two days back, young Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Ishant Sharma on Monday admitted it was a 'mistake'.

"It was my mistake. I hope I won't do it again," Ishant said at the function here.

"Your temperament is not in your hands all the time, you see," said Ishant, the find for the Indian team during the tour to Australia earlier this year.

IPL match referee Clive Lloyd ruled the speedster guilty of a level 1 offence as per International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct, which has been adopted by the Twenty20 League authorities, for abusing ground equipment during the Knight Rider's game with King's XI, Punjab, at Mohali.

Asked whether the cricketers were becoming temperamental as they were under lot of pressure, Ishant said "I don't think so. It all depends on how you play the game."

On conceding 21 runs in the ultimate over in the tie, the bowler said such things were part and parcel of the game.

"After a long time I've been hit for so many runs. In cricket you have some good days, some bad days," he said.

Ishant said the availability of Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar would have a positive imapct on his team, which is now on a downslide, after losing four matches.

"He is very fast. Has good experience in international cricket. We (fat bowlers like Ishant) will gain when he shares his experience with us," he said.

Shoaib was cleared to play in the IPL after a Pakistan court suspended for a month the five-year ban slapped on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Ishant said the inability to forge big partnerships in the initial overs was a principal reason for his side's dismal show in the league.

"We need good partnerships in the first six overs. Then we can definitely make a comeback," he said.

The Knight Riders were discussing threadbare the reasons for the sudden drop in performance after a good start. "We're not playing that bad."
