NRIs build student complex in UK

LONDON: Three Indian-origin brothers are constructing a multi-million pound environment-friendly ultra-modern accommodation complex for students near the Bradford University in north England.

The complex, designed to house 1,400 students, is being build by an investment management company Apartment 4 U being managed by three NRI brothers Amratlal Shah, Mayur Shah and Hasmukh Shah.

“The student village will be unique. Nowhere else will there be such a complex. We are using a method of sustainable modular construction made up of harvested forests,” Hasmukh Shah, a director of Apartments 4U said.

The ultra-modern accommodation complex will have all the modern facilities like flat-screen televisions, internet access and deluxe rooms attached to every unit.

“It’s a unique system. It will be built in Manchester on an assembly line and the completed rooms will then be transported to Bradford by articulated lorry and put together on site,” Shah said.

“It is sustainable and allows us to get them built ahead of time. They should be completed by January or February of next year.”

Shah said that the university had a good reputation, but had lacked high-quality accommodation.

“We hope we will help to address that need and attract more students to Bradford. These developments are not just pie in the sky. They are actually happening already,” he added. The project, expected to be worth £90 million on its completion, has secured investment from six major investors from India, East Africa and the UK.
