TAWANG: Defence minister AK Antony said on Sunday the concerns raised by the armed forces on the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission will be examined.

“We will take it up and solve the problem,” Antony told reporters here after addressing troops of the Kameng sector along the Indo-China border.

The defence minister was hopeful an acceptable solution would be found to the issue.
Antony also talked about improving infrastructure in the North-East.

“We are lagging behind in infrastructure in the north-eastern region and it is the topmost priority of the Centre to go in for massive development here,” he said.

Stating that developed infrastructure was important from the security point of view, the minister admitted that it was the failure of governments over the years to improve the region.

The defence minister, referring to the decrease in insurgency in the region, claimed, “Things are under control in the North-East.”
