Says MNCs must also reserve jobs for them at Jaipur rally

JAIPUR: After major rallies in Delhi, Hyderabad and Patna in last couple of years, Maharashtra PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal addressed another rally in Jaipur, Rajasthan on Saturday in which he made a pitch for the empowerment of other Backward Castes or OBCs.

Not only did he get an enthusiastic response but he also shared the dais with leaders from other parties under the aegis of the Akhil Bharatiya Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad (ABMPSP).

Bhujbal, who is the national president of ABMPSP has been garnering support from the OBC communities across the county in last few years. The rally, held in the scorching sun at the Vidyadhar stadium in the city was attended by various OBC communities like Saini, Kushwah, Shourya and the Shkya. The ruling BJP also participated.

Bhujbal has demanded 27 percent reservation for  OBCs in Rajasthan in general, as also in  politics and posts in the judiciary, in particular. He said that the Indian constitution provides for the reservation for the weaker sections of society and that if the MNCs and foreign players are foraying into the country, they should offer reservation for the OBCs.

He also demanded that the Bharat Ratna to be conferred upon Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, a social reformer who worked for the lower castes.

Rajasthan’s agriculture minister Prabhulal Saini was chief guest of the rally while general secretary Madanlal Saini was among the many speakers. Speaking before a crowd estimated to be nearly 20,000, Saini suggested that the leaders from various parties come together under the name of Mahatma Phule, and keep aside party politics.

Bhujbal said that if the communities belonging to the OBC want their voice to be heard, they will have to come together and make sure that they get their leaders installed at the Centre.
