PATNA: The doors to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s house at Mecon colony, Ranchi, Jharkhand, have been shut for the local media as parents of the Indian one-day cricket captain are sore after certain ugly experiences.

Sources close to the family said Pan Singh, Dhoni’s father, and mother Devki stayed indoors all of Tuesday while their son led Team India to a glorious victory over world champions Australia. Armed cops were guarding their house.

Sources close to the Dhonis said Pan Singh was very upset with the local media after it blew up the attack on their then under-construction house at Harmu Housing Colony after India’s dismal performance in the World Cup.

The same people who made him a hero burned Mahendra Singh Dhoni in an effigy after that defeat. Ever since the otherwise down-to-earth Dhonis have stopped interacting with the media.

The Dhoni family has not changed its lifestyle despite Mahendra becoming an international icon. His mother still prefers to travel by the cycle-rickshaw and goes to the local vegetable market.
