12th standard student shot dead by classmates

GHAZIABAD: In yet another incident of gun violence in educational institutions, a 12th standard student was shot dead allegedly by two of his classmates at an inter college on Saturday.

"Vipin (19) was shot dead by two of his classmates by using a country-made gun inside the inter college at Metnara village in this district," Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Ratan said.

The incident happened when the classes were over and the students were leaving the college at around 1 pm.

One of the Accused, Atar Singh, has been arrested soon while the other accused was still at large.

Superintendent of Police (rural) Jagdish Sharma said Atar Singh wanted to take revenge on the victim as he had eve teased the former's sister.

"Singh said he had warned Vipin on several occasions but he did not pay any heed which resulted today's incident," he said.

An eighth standard student of an elite school was killed when two classmates allegedly pumped five bullets into him at point blank range in Gurgaon on December 11.
