MUMBAI: The Supreme Court will hear the bail plea of the members of the Memon family and other convicts, accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, on February 12.

Advocate Subhash Kanse, who represents the Memon family, said on Sunday that the bail plea of two members of the Memon family -- Rubeena Memon, sister-in-law of absconding accused Tiger Memon, and Yusuf Memon, younger brother of Tiger Memon - who were sentenced to life imprisonment, are among those whose fate will be decided by the Apex Court.

The session court here had convicted Rubeena for allowing the use of a Maruti van, registered on her name, by other convicts, who had delivered the explosives, while Yusuf, who is suffering from neurological problem, was convicted for allowing his flat to be used for hatching the conspiracy.

Earlier, the Apex Court had granted bail to Essa Memon, brother of Yusuf Memon, who was also undergoing life imprisonment, considering the defence plea that he had spent a prolonged period of 13 years in jail as an under trial accused as well as a convict.

While granting him bail, the Court had also admitted his appeal challenging the sentence awarded to him.

The TADA Court had earlier convicted 100 persons for their involvement in the serial blasts, which left 257 persons dead and 574 injured, with damages running into crores.
