MUMBAI: Shiv Sena executive president Udhav Thackeray on Saturday avoided comment on his cousin, and MNS chief, Raj Thackeray’s recent statements about outsiders in Mumbai.

Instead, he said that the Marathi manoos understands the difference between the original and the duplicate, and that “everything that glitters is not gold”.

At a rally organised by airport employees at the domestic airport on Saturday, the Sena leader himself played the Marathi card, and took a dig at the non-Maharashtrian chief of the Mumbai International Airport Limited.

The MIAL management has been under attack from the Sena’s employee union. Asked if he feels that the MNS is trying to hijack the issue of Marathi pride, Uddhav said: “This is a battle between two parties, and should not be projected as a linguistic quarrel.”
