KAKINADA: A goldsmith in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh has designed a rice grain-sized statuette of Mahatma Gandhi in gold, with an aim to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
  
Kommoju Gunasekhar (31), native of Thatiyakulapalem village of Thondangi mandal, used one gram of gold to design the seven mm high statuette.
  
''I have toiled for 90 days to give shape to the miniature Gandhiji. My aim is to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. I have already showed it to Union Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju during his recent visit to Kandarada village,'' the proud goldsmith said here on Wednesday.
  
The bespectacled Bapuji holds the Bhagvad Gita on his left hand and a stick in the right.
  
Mr Gunasekhar is in touch with the managers of the Guinness Book of World Records to ensure that he along with his masterpiece gains entry into the Book.
