FIIs sell shares worth Rs 3,021 cr on bourses

MUMBAI: Foreign Institutional Investors were net sellers in equities on Wednesday as the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex, ended 864 points up.
    
FIIs made gross sale of equities worth Rs 8,572.24 crore and gross purchase of Rs 5,730.70 crore, resulting in a net sale of Rs 3,021.54 crore.
    
Domestic institutional investors, however, were net investors in shares worth Rs 1,291.76 crore, provisional data available on the BSE show.
    
Among other categories, non-resident Indian entities invested in equity worth Rs 11.10 crore and proprietors sold equities worth Rs 35.26 crore. Brokers, however, invested in shares worth Rs 331.56 crore for their clients or retail investors.
    
The Sensex ended the day at 17,594.07, a rise of 864.13 points or 5.17 per cent.
