KOLKATA: Former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jagmohan Dalmiya Saturday congratulated the Indian team and skipper Anil Kumble in particular for beating Australia in the third Test at Perth.

"Many congratulations to the Indian cricket team and especially to you for leading the brilliant comeback at Perth after the nightmares in Melbourne and Sydney," he wrote in a message to the captain.

"I firmly believe that even though everyone had their contributions in this excellent win after being down 0-2 in the series, it was your astute leadership qualities that made the turnaround possible. Keep up your good efforts and all the very best for Adelaide," he wrote to Kumble.

Shouts of "India" pierced the afternoon somnolence in the West Bengal capital as jubilant cricket fans took to the streets soon after India defeated Australia by 72 runs to keep alive the series that the hosts now lead 2-1.
