A drunken Bihar police official kills son

PATNA: The police have arrested one of their own official who shot dead his son under the influence of alcohol following a family dispute here, police sources said Sunday.

Shankar Paswan, police havildar, shot dead his 30-year-old son Nitin Paswan Saturday night over a small dispute in the family.

"After heated exchanges over a small dispute, Shankar Paswan took out his service revolver and shot his son to death, " a police official said.

According to Shankar's daughter, Nitin was against his father's drinking habit and the duo had engaged in heated exchanges several times in the past, and last year also her father had tried to kill Nitin following an argument.

The police arrested Shankar and started an investigation into the matter.
