AHMEDABAD: Kite-fliers from 15 countries, including India, on Saturday participated in the kite flying competition organised as part of the International Kite Festival here.
 
About 70 kite-fliers from Thailand, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, Denmark, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Italy, UK, South Africa and Singapore were among the 167 participants, who flew kites at the competition held at police stadium grounds at Shahibaug here.
 
Kites as small as 3.7 centimeters and as large as 16 meters in length were flown during the day.
 
Indian fighter kites, painted, collage and miniature kites were also flown.
 
The state government has been promoting the International Kite Festival since the last few years to attract tourism.
