This is the second time that the party’s official website has been hacked

CHENNAI: The official website of the J Jayalalithaa-led All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has been hacked, second time in seven years, forcing the party to create a new one.

Surfers who logged on to www.aiadmkindia.org found topics such as ‘Indian woman’, ‘older women’ and ‘black dating’ under the heading ‘hot’, instead of Jayalalithaa’s profile and her party’s programmes.

Under another heading ‘popular’, were listed ‘baby’, ‘AIADMK’, ‘chat’,’Annathimuga party’, ‘list of district secretaries’ and ‘chairman E Madhusudanan’.

Clicking on the hypertext took one to dating sites such as seniordatefinder.com and bigadda.com. Clicking on the hypertext ‘chairman’ took the surfer to a shopping site.

The party was forced to change its website url from www.aiadmk.org in 2001 after hackers put the site “on sale”. The old site is now a Malayalam portal titled Manna Express which calls itself “a Christian portal for spiritual guidance”.

An AIADMK leader said the matter had been brought to the notice of Amma and a team is working on the new portal www.aiadmkallindia.com, which will take a month to be fully functional. The party will employ technical experts to maintain the website and prevent hacking, he said.

Meanwhile, www.electadmk, a site launched by a bunch of young Jayalalithaa fans during last year’s assembly elections, remains intact, though not updated after the AIADMK’s dismal poll performance. Political parties in Tamil Nadu have been intermittently internet-savvy, updating their websites in the run-up to elections and letting them either expire or be hacked later.

The DMK’s official website www.dmk.in is also in hibernation, with the scroll “this website is under construction”.

The DMK website, however, retains graphic details of the “midnight arrest” (arrest of M Karunanidhi on June 30, 2001, a little over a month after Jayalalithaa came to power).
