Jameer Nelson scored 22 points and Rashard Lewis added 19 to lead Orlando while Dwight Howard contributed 17 points and 22 rebounds for the Magic, which moved 4.5 games atop second-place Atlanta in the Southeast division
It was the first loss in three games for the Bulls under coach Jim Boylan, who took over after Scott Skiles was fired from the job on Christmas Eve. Ben Gordon led the Bulls with a season-high 39 points on 16-of-27 shooting while Sudan-born British forward Luol Deng added 21 and Argentina’s Andres Nocioni contributed 19 points. Turkoglu finished with 17 points for the Magic while Puerto Rico’s Carlos Arroyo and Keith Bogans each scored 14 for Orlando.
Jazz ends Blazers streak
Portland’s 13 game NBA winning streak came to end Monday as the Trailblazers lost 111-101 to Utah Jazz. Andrei Kirilenko had 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the Jazz. The Trailblazers’ previous loss had been on December 2 and they were three victories away from tying the franchise record.
Pistons steam rolls Bucks
In Auburn Hills, Michigan, Detroit Pistons routed Milwaukee Bucks 114-69 to record a ninth straight win. Richard Hamilton scored 22 points and Chauncey Billups added 13 points and 12 assists for the Pistons. The 45 point margin of defeat was the third worst in Bucks history, trailing a pair of 48 point losses. The Pistons have a franchise record of 15 wins in December, while Milwaukee has lost four straight.
