Teenager brutally murdered in a girls hostel

VIJAYAWADA (Andhra Pradesh): In yet another case of suspected attack by a jilted lover, a teenage girl on Thursday was found murdered in a private hostel here in the wee hours.
 
Ayesha (19), a first year student of B Pharmacy, was found naked and with stab injuries in bathroom at Durga ladies hostel in Ibrahimpatnam locality, police said, adding and blood marks were found on the floor indicating that the girl was dragged to the bathroom from her bed.
 
The contents of a letter found near her body, allegedly written by a jilted lover was being analysed by experts, police said.
 
The investigators were probing how the intruder gained entry into the girls hostel in the dead of the night when it was locked from inside and how other inmates in adjacent rooms could not hear any sound.
 
"It is surprising that the other girls staying in the hostel were not disturbed. How the assailant could gain entry into the building needs to be probed," Commissioner of Police C V Anand said.
 
Three special police teams have been formed to probe the case, he said.
 
Ayesha, who hails from Tenali in neighbouring Guntur district, returned to the hostel last night accompanied by her mother after celebrating Bakr-Id at her native place.
 
Ayesha did not have any love affair, her mother said.
 
The incident comes in the backdrop of a growing number of attacks on teenage girls by jilted lovers. While a lecturer threw acid on a girl at Palasa in Srikakulam district, a psychopath hit a college girl with a boulder in Hyderabad unable to digest her being in the company of another man.
