BANGALORE: "It is a double Id for us today", said an emotional Ashfaq Ahmed, father-in-law of Mohammed Haneef, whose work visa was reinstated by the Federal Court of Australia on Friday.

"Today's Bakrid is special for us. Early morning we got the good news about Haneef's work visa being reinstated. It is very welcome. Our family is very happy about this," he said.

Asked whether he had spoken to Haneef, who is on a Haj pilgrimage, Ahmed said, "Haneef is still in Mecca with his wife and mother. I will speak to him later in the day".

On whether 27-year-old Haneef would now go back to Australia, he said, "We have not taken any decision yet. I will have to speak to him".

The Australia Federal Court upheld a judge's decision to reinstate the work visa of the Indian doctor who was wrongly accused of links to the failed UK terror plot five months ago and forced to leave the country.
