Student dies in school complex, parents cry foul

KARNAL: A student of Class XI with a history of heart problem died in the school complex here on Thursday and his parents alleged he was made to do stressful physical exercise by the physical training instructor.
   
The post-mortem of 16-year-old Ravinder, a student of a government school here, was being carried out to establish the exact cause of the death, Karnal's Senior Superintendent of Police A S Chawla said.
   
He said the parents of the boy alleged a physical training instructor of the school had made him do stressful exercises after which he collapsed.
    
However, the school authorities maintained that the boy was getting late in the morning and in order to be able to make it to the morning prayers at the school ran fast and collapsed, Chawala said.
    
He said the parents claimed they had apprised the school authorities in writing about Ravinder's medical condition.
   
"So far, we have not registered any case and are waiting for the post-mortem report, after which we will be clear about things," he said.
