Mahindra draw with JCT

After defeating Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in Kolkata, JCT failed to make it a hat-trick in their I-League campaign as they were held to a draw.

LUDHIANA: After defeating Mohun Bagan and East Bengal in Kolkata, JCT failed to make it a hat-trick in their I-League campaign as they were held to a goalless draw against Mahindra United at the Guru Nanak Stadium here on Tuesday.
 
Both teams made several impressive moves but failed to convert them into goals. JCT’s Sunil Chhetri and Eduardo Da Silva got yellow cards as did Mahindra’s Harpreet Singh and Manpreet.

JCT captain Julius Akpele was declared man of the match. JCT next face Churchill Brothers here on December 8 while  Mahindra United, who drew 1-1 with Air India before being thrashed 1-5 by Churchill, will take on Viva Kerala in Mumbai. JCT has seven points while Mahindra United have two after three rounds.

Defending champions Dempo Sports Club brushed aside the challenge of Durand Cup champions Churchill Brothers, and registered their third consecutive win in the ONGC-I League Championship football match at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.

Dempo surged ahead at the stroke of half time through Medio Roberto Mendes Silva (Beto). Dempo continued to attack increased their lead in the 65th minute through Renty Martin, whose header found the net off a well measured pass received from Nicolau Borges, taking the score to 2-0.
