BANGALORE: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD-S leader H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday said his party would not impose conditions while forming a government with the BJP, and would extend 'unconditional' support to the saffron party.

"A section of electionic media has been portraying my party badly in the eyes of public after JD-S supremo H D Devegowda mooted a 12-point suggestion. Hereafter, we will not set any condition. Our support will also be unconditional" Kumaraswamy said.

The former Chief Minister said, "Henceforth, I will take advice from electronic media."

Alleging that media had distorted the remarks he made after calling on the Governor Rameshwar Thakur yesterday, Kumaraswamy said, "I have decided to surrender to silence in the wake of electronic media unnecessarily targeting me and my party".

The former Chief Minister, however, cautioned that his party will not be responsible for any untoward incident that would occur after the BJP-led government assumed office and declared 'neither the media nor people should blame it'.

"A wave of confusion had swept the political scene in the state since September 30, when senior BJP leader Yaswanth Sinha called on Devegowda," he said, adding there were attempts to project JD-S as the party responsible for the political situation.

Kumaraswamy said that he cannot be blamed for failure to transfer power and alleged BJP was responsible for the fiasco.

"Are there any suggestion that cannot be implemented in our 12-point MOU," Kumaraswamy asked, pointing to media criticism that JDS was trying to set up road blocks on government formation after extending support to BJP.

"I still maintain it is suggestion and not condition. It is necessary to sort out certain things in the light of unsavoury experiences JDS faced with BJP while running coalition government earlier on various issues including posting and transfer of officials," he said.

Kumaraswamy defended his decision not to parade MLAs before President Pratibha Patil, saying it was in the backdrop of both the parties submitting individual affidavits by 129 MLAs to demonstrate their support to the government.

To a query, he said "if needed we are ready to parade MLAs before the President".

"We (JDS) have already faced agonising moments for certain hasty decisions taken earlier," Kumaraswamy said, but did not elaborate.

"I never told BJP that I will not transfer power to it. But they resorted to pressure tactics, as they are doing now," he said.
