COLOMBO: Confident that Muttiah Muralitharn will overtake Shane Warne as the highest Test wicket-taker during the two-match series against Australia, Sri Lankans are set to celebrate the spin wizard's feat with a song, which would go on air after he achieves the record.

'Spin Wizard Murali', written by Harold Lakshman Fernando of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation is ready to go on air once Muralitharan takes the required nine wickets to surpass Warne's 708 scalps in the series starting November 8 in Brisbane.

"Being a Sing-a-Song writer and announcer I thought of writing songs of two eminent persons in cricket. And I wrote two songs on Don Bradman and our hero Muttaiah Muralitharan," Fernando told 'The Island' Newspaper.

While the melody line and vocals of the song are penned by Fernando, the music has been composed and played by Jagath Wickramasinghe.

'Spin Wizard Murali' is a 2.5 minute song while that on Donald Bradman is seven minutes, Fernando said.

Bradman's song relates to the life story of the cricket great in 22 verses.
