KOLKATA: Incensed over the alleged firing at party chief Mamata Banerjee at Nandigram, irate Trinamool youth Congress supporters took to the streets on Monday here setting up road blocks and damaging buses.
    
A government bus was damaged in stone-pelting incident by Trinamool supporters at Kalighat, according to Deputy Commissioner (headquarters) of city police Vineet Goel.
    
The Trinamool activists deflated the tyres of several buses and blocked various important intersections and streets including Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, S N Banerjee Road, Hazra, Gopalnagar and Kalighat.
    
Goel said Pradesh Youth Congress workers brought out a procession from Kalighat tram depot in protest against CPI(M) atrocities at Nandigram.
    
The trouble-torn Nandigram in East Midnapore district was rocked by fresh violence with Banerjee claiming on Sunday she had been fired at when her convoy reached Tekhali bridge.
    
West Bengal chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, however, said Banerjee's allegation had no basis.
