NEW DELHI: Mystery surrounded the death of a 21-year-old technician of a private airliner at the airport here with investigators on Tuesday failing to trace the vehicle which hit her.

The Airports Authority of India also ordered an enquiry into the accident.

The doctors who conducted the post-mortem concluded that Sanskriti Sinha, hailing from Patna and employed with Air Deccan for the past one-and-a-half year, died due to the impact of the accident, a senior police official said.

"Prima facie, it appears to be a case of hit and run case," the official said.

However, he said, investigators were keeping "all angles" open for investigation as they were unable to trace the vehicle which hit the technician at around 10 pm on Monday at the international airport.

"We are keeping all options open despite the experts who conducted the post mortem concluding that she died due to the accident which occured at a high security area," the official said.

Sinha died on the spot and the post-mortem was conducted at the Safdarjung Hospital after which her body was flown to her home-town Patna.

Jagdish Prasad, Medical Superintendent of Safdurjung Hospital where her post mortem was conducted, said all her vital organs were damaged after the incident.

"The heart, spleen, liver all were ruptured. All vital organs were damaged at the spot," Prasad said.

Sinha's family also said they did not suspect any foul play in her death.

"It looks like an accident and we do not think there was any kind of foul play," Kalyan Mohan, her uncle residing in Faridabad, said.

Air Deccan spokesperson said the airline has constituted an internal enquiry into the incident besides assisting the police and airport authorities in the probe.

Sinha was in full compliance of all requisite safety requirements and was wearing a high visibility jacket, the spokesperson claimed.
