MUZAFFARNAGAR: The BJP has threatened to launch an agitation in UP to highlight the alleged failure of Mayawati government to address the problems of farmers in the state.

Announcing this at a party rally here yesterday, BJP President and former Chief Minister Rajnath Singh said the working committee of the party's state unit will have a meeting on October 27 to decide the course of the agitation.

The agitation would also expose the ruling BSP for its 'poor performance' during the last five months in office, he said.

Alleging that the state-owned sugar mills owed crores of rupees to the sugar cane cultivators the BJP president criticised the Mayawati government for not doing anything to redress their grievances.
