Narjit bags second gold for India at MWG

HYDERABAD: Bantam Weight Pugilist P Narjit Singh clinched the second gold medal for India in the fourth Military World Games here on Saturday afternoon.
    
Egged on by a holiday crowd, Narjit started cautiously and trailed till the last round before rallying to beat German Marcel Schneider 12-8.
    
The former national champion used his left hook to success but trailed 5-6 in the first three rounds.
    
The Indian saved his best for the last and came up with a flurry of punches in the final round to get the better off Schneider. Narjit was methodical in his approach and led 8-6 midway through the final round before coming out on top.
    
Boxers have done extremely well in the event, bagging four bronze medals as well through H K Beliwal (Lt Fly), Satya Raju (Lt Welter), D Bhagyarajan (Welter) and Mohinder Thapa (Lt Heavy).
