NEW DELHI: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi wants the country to follow the “Gujarat miracle”.
In the run-up to the assembly polls, a new audio-visual publicity blitz has been released to tell voters that Modi is the man who can tackle terrorism and take the state on a development path that had not been chartered by any other state in India.
For once, the BJP chief Rajnath Singh was to made to acknowledge that Narendra Modi as Gujarat chief minister had the most towering personality than his Gen-next peer group in the party.
A “film” called “India Tomorrow, The Gujarat Miracle” was premiered at BJP central headquarters, 11 Ashoka Road, and Singh was presented the first copy of the hour-long film. Modi took his state unit party chief and close confidant Purshottan Rupala to the occasion.
The CD would now be shown to the voters in various places in Gujarat and would be one of main electoral propaganda tools for Modi.
The film attempts to portray Modi as a worthy successor of the two most famous political figures from Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel.
He is presented as the Iron Man who takes terrorism head on and is willing to stick his neck out against Pakistan.
“Assam is troubled because it shares borders with Bangladesh. Gujarat shares borders with Pakistan but Pakistan is felling troubled because of us,” Modi says.
His claim of fighting terrorism has been supported by a number of quotes from retired police officers including Punjab super cop KPS Gill. It takes a dig at the allegations made by human right groups.
