AJMER: Activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and allied Hindu outfits on Saturday raised slogans against the UPA Government  on issues of security, Ram Sethu and infiltration from Bangladesh   during Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil's visit to Khwaja Moinuddin  Hasan Chisti's Durgah here.

The activists gathered at the Circuit House to submit a memorandum against mis-management in security arrangements at the shrine to Mr Patil during his visit to the city to take stock of the situation in the durgah in the wake of Thursday's blast.

The demonstrators resorted to slogan-shouting against Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and the UPA Government. The situation turned tense for a short while when the slogan-shouting was strongly protested and reciprocated by Congress workers who gathered there to welcome Mr Patil.

Director-General of Police AS Gill had to intervene to defuse the situation.

Mr Patil's visit also evoked resentment from the media. The authorities evacuated media persons from the durgah premises citing security reasons before the Minister's arrival and later denied entry to scribes in the premises during his visit.
