BHOPAL: Two girl students of the Indian Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) were admitted to a local hospital after reportedly being ragged by senior students.

"Puja Puniya from Agra and Dinima Gautam of New Delhi, both students of first year in IIHM, were allegedly tortured by their seniors late Wednesday night. The police got the complaint Friday and is investigating the matter", said R.S.  Ghuraiya, Station House Officer (SHO), Bhopal Police.

The college principal Raj Mohan, refuting the ragging charge, said: "Nothing like ragging took place but it was a case of dispute over some issue between the seniors and the juniors."

The college management is learnt to have suspended 12 students and all the students accused in the incident have reportedly left the city for fear of police action.

Bhopal police has registered a case against eight students of the institute.

Last month, Durgesh Shukla, 23, a student of Masters in Computer Applications at Pioneer College, committed suicide in Indore. The deceased left a suicide note, claiming that he was being ragged and had lost self-confidence.
