MUMBAI: Half-a-dozen country made bombs were recovered by police on Wednesday in the Andheri suburb of Mumbai, hours before the victorious Indian cricket team's cavalcade was to pass through the area.

Mumbai's crime branch officials described the bombs as 'country-made crude bombs,' and ruled out the possibility of any terrorist outfits being linked with the recovered explosives.

"Six crude bombs were found from a crowded neighbourhood in Andheri early Wednesday and the bombs were defused immediately," Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief Krishanpal Raghuvanshi said.

"Preliminary investigations have not revealed any terror links with the crude bombs," said Raghuvanshi.

"They were live bombs but of low intensity and country-made bombs. And the spot from where the bombs were found is quite far from the route of the Indian team," said a senior ATS official, who did not want to be named.

"The bombs were all crude and could have been meant for use by some criminal gangs," he added.
