Jana Krishnamurthy passes away

CHENNAI: Senior BJP leader and former Union Law Minister Jana Krishnamurthy died at a private hospital here on Tuesday following prolonged illness.

He was 79 and survived by wife, two sons and three daughters.

Krishnamurthy, who was the BJP national president between 2001 to 2002, was undergoing treatment for kidney failure for about two months.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani visited the hospital and enquired about his health during his visit to Tamil Nadu last week, party sources said.

The last rites will take place on Wednesday.

BJP president Rajnath Singh and senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the funeral, the sources added.
