A teacher, who had been absconding after allegedly attempting to rape a minor school girl at his house in Ramban district, was arrested on Monday.

JAMMU: A teacher, who had been absconding after allegedly attempting to rape a minor school girl at his house in Ramban district, was arrested on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Bashir Ahmed Tantray, a Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher of Dooligam village in Banihal tehsil, police said.
Tantray had tried to rape a nine-year-old girl after calling her home on the pretext of giving her free tuitions.
The girl had raised an alarm following which the student escaped from the spot.
A case of rape has been already registered against him.
Meanwhile, police on Monday arrested a couple for the murder of their kin in Kathua district.
A man identified as Saptal along with wife Vimla and sons, Goverdan and Rakesh Sharma beat up and critically wounded his borther Surinderpal over a land dispute in Falood village on August 30.
Surinder Pal died in hospital, they said adding that after a fortnight-long hunt, the couple has been arrested on Monday. However, their sons are still absconding.
