Mumbai railway police have launched a manhunt to trace Chhatisgarh businessman Manish Agarwal, 32, who has been since August 30 from the CST railway station.

According to the complainant and Agarwal’s brother-in-law Ram Kumar Khetan, who works for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) in Mumbai, Agarwal and Khetan along with his family boarded Bhuwaneshwar Express in Raipur on August 29 and reached Kalyan station the next day.

Agarwal was travelling in another compartment of the same train and joined Khetan family at the Kalyan station. Khetan and Agarwal together took a local train for CST while the family went to its Navi Mumbai residence.

After reaching CST at around 11.30 am, Khetan went to his HPCL office at Churchagate while Agarwal stayed back at the railway station purportedly to meet some business associate.

Since then, Agarwal neither contacted Khetan nor came to his Navi Mumbai house. Finally, he lodged a complaint with the CST railway police station on September 3, Khetan said.

Sub Inspector DD Lende of CST railway police station ruled out kidnapping since victim’s relatives did not get any ransom calls so far.

Lende said, “We tried contacting the victim on his cell phone but it has been switched off. Before missing from the CST railway station, he had contacted four persons on their mobiles.

But those mobiles are also switched off now. We have alerted all the railway police stations and the police control-room of the neighbouring states including Chhatisgarh about the missing businessman.”
