MUMBAI: Former Cricket Board President Raj Singh Dungarpur on Thursday vehemently denied accusations of misconduct levelled by some Cricket Club of India members against him during his long-term as the club chief and said he was ready to face any enquiry into the matter.

Dungarpur, in a media statement, also said that after being elected unanimously for more than 14 years as the CCI president he had done everything within his powers 'to hold the dignity and the prestige of the club' which, he said, is ranked as among the finest in India.

He also dismissed allegations of irregularities during the installation of floodlights at the CCI's Brabourne Stadium, saying the entire process was transparent, approved by the entire Executive Committee and done as per norms.

Dungarpur also said when some members raised some points relating to his administration he, in the best of Parliamentary traditions, had offered to resign his post as President on August 3 'in order to enable my colleagues to conduct any enquiry they wished to'.

"Meanwhile, a large number of my friends at the club prevailed upon me against my initial reluctance to contest the election once again and I had to relent to their love and affection," the former BCCI Chief said, explaining the reasons for his change of heart after having told the media that he had retired after a long innings and was not contesting again.

The CCI has appointed audit firm KPMG to hold the enquiry and has also written to the BCCI that Dungarpur should not be allowed to represent the club, one of the Board's affiliated units, at the BCCI's meetings.
