ESPN-STAR acquires broadcast rights from Cricket Aus

STAR Sports has bagged the exclusive rights to broadcast Cricket Australia's (CA) domestic and home international matches across various platforms covering the entire Asian region in the next four years.

NEW DELHI: ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) has bagged the exclusive rights to broadcast Cricket Australia's (CA) domestic and home international matches across various platforms covering the entire Asian region in the next four years.

Close on the heels of its recent renewal of partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), ESS on Thursday announced bagging a new four-year contract with CA which earns them the exclusive broadcast rights of both domestic and home international matches across various platforms including television, internet, mobile and radio.

That lines up more than 550 days of international cricket till 2012, including 170 days of live international cricket comprising 24 Test matches, 48 one-day internationals and eight Twenty20 games.

Over the next four years, all leading teams will be visiting Australia with India slated to play four Tests and a three-nation ODI series in 2011-12.
   
In addition to the pulsating international cricket action, ESS also plans to broadcast Australia's domestic cricket, including popular tournaments such as the Pura Cup, Ford Ranger One Day Cup and KFC Twenty20 Big Bash.
