NEW DELHI: The formation of the UPA-Left Committee on the Indo-US civil nuclear deal led to an uproar in Lok Sabha on Wednesday with the Opposition terming the move as an 'insult' to Parliament,

As soon as the House met for the day, the BJP and its allies raised the issue vociferously with Deputy Leader of the Opposition VK Malhotra taking exception to the formation of the Committee.

"It is an insult to the House and the nation," Malhotra said adding the action was not proper.

Speaker Somnath Chatterjee pleaded in vain with agitated members to allow Question Hour. He said he would give them an opportunity to raise the issue later.

When members did not relent, he adjourned the House till 11:30 am.
