Robbers escapes with booty in AP temple

ONGOLE: Some unidentified persons broke into Tripurantakeshwara Swami temple and decamped with gold ornaments worth more than Rs seven lakh at Tripurantakam town in Prakasham district in the wee hours of Sunday.

Police said theft might have taken place sometime between 0200 hours and 0400 this morning. The robbers opened the main door of the temple and looted jewellery.  

A priest discovered the theft when the temple door was opened around 0500 hours. 

A case had been registered and investigation was underway, police added.
