NEW DELHI: Delhi Government on Saturday terminated the services of Uma Khurana, the teacher who is accused of forcing schoolgirls into prostitution, and said private security will soon be deployed in its schools to prevent such cases in future.

"Within two days of having launched an inquiry into the matter, we have decided to terminate her services," Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said.

He said the two-member inquiry committee of the Education Department has gone into the details of the CD of a TV sting operation purportedly showing Khurana forcing students into sex trade.

"However, during investigation by the Committee, it was found that there was no complaint of any immoral trafficking against her," he said.

"But based on the findings of the Committee that her track record was not good and keeping in view that there have been several complaints against Khurana of misbehaviour with children, we have taken the action against her," Lovely said.

"To send a strong message that such illegal activities will not be accepted, we have terminated the services of Khurana. But this does not reflect on all teachers. We have very good teachers in our schools," he said.

Khurana had been suspended earlier, and her suspension was revoked recently, he said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Government has decided to deploy private security personnel as a safety measure in its schools.
