Karthikeyan tests car ahead of Grand Prix season

MUMBAI: In preparation for the upcoming season, Narain Karthikeyan, who has been signed up for the A1 Grand Prix to represent India, participated in the testing of his car over the past two days.

Karthikeyan, who drove for Jordan in 2005-06 season and is a test driver with the Williams team in Formula One, participated in pre-season testing that was carried out in the Silverstone circuit in the UK since on Tuesday, according to A1 Team India.

"The Silverstone Test session is a good chance to get used to the car, team and competitors and get A1 Team India's third season off to the best possible start," Karthikeyan said in the release.

Karthikeyan had driven one race for the Indian team in the grand prix during the last season and is expected to participate for the complete 2007-08 season.

The A1 Grand Prix, which began in 2004, pits racing teams from 23 countries against each other and the first race of the current season is to be held at the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands on September 30, the release added.
