Law finally catches up with Rajan man

Dreaded sharpshooter Kishore Dagdu Aware, the Chhota Rajan gang member who had attempted to kill woman Police Sub-Inspector Mrudula Lad at Juhu in 1996, was arrested by the Crime Branch from his Juhu hideout on Monday. The police team recovered a country made revolver from him. Aware was remanded in police custody till September 4. 

Inspector Sanjay Kadam, in-charge of Crime Branch Unit III, said, "As many as 14 serious offences, including extortion, robbery, dacoity and  possession of firearms, had been registered against him since 1992."

In 1996, Lad was informed that DK Rao and Aware were to commit a dacoity somewhere in Juhu and set a trap. Realising their plan, Aware fired a round at Lad. It missed and Lad fired back. The bullet hit Rao, who was injured. As the gangsters tried to flee, Lad managed to nab the injured Rao. Aware managed to escape, and had hoodwinked the police ever since.
