PATNA: A railway engineer has announced a Rs.100,000 reward for anyone who provides information about his wife, who went missing from a train on Aug 15.

"I will give Rs.100,000 to anyone who provides information about my wife," said Rajiv Kumar.

His wife Rani Archana Singh (30), daughter of Subhash Chandra, the additional district and sessions judge of Banka district, went missing from the Capital Express train on way to Patna from New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.

Rajiv has registered a complaint with the railway police at Mokama railway station, about 100 km from here.

According to the first information report (FIR), the couple had dinner at Katihar railway station at around 8.30 pm on Aug 14. They then went to sleep with the husband occupying the lower berth and the wife sleeping on the upper berth.

The FIR said when Rajiv woke up at around 5 am, he did not find his wife though all her belongings were intact.

Kumar said posters and handbills announcing the reward have been plastered at all important places, including the railway stations between Bakhtiarpur and Mokama. "I decided to take the initiative after I lost faith in police," he said.

Kumar and Rani had gone for honeymoon to Darjeeling on Aug 10. The two were married in April this year.

Fourteen days after police failed to trace the whereabouts of Rani, her parents and brother are also restless. Her brother said they had approached the police several times, but to no avail.
