KOLKATA: Information and Broadcasting minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi on Tuesday walked out of a regional Congress party meeting after a group of workers raised slogans in support of former WBPCC chief Somen Mitra.
As Dasmunshi rose to address the meeting organised on the occasion of the foundation day of 'Chhatra Parishad', a group raised slogans in support of Mitra, who belongs to the Pranab Mukherjee camp, and garlanded him which annoyed Dasmunshi.
This led to chaos before the dais and the Union minister left the venue without speaking.
West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) Working President Pradip Bhattacharya later expressed regret for the incident.
