DUMKA: JMM chief Sibu Soren on Saturday was released from Dumka central jail, four days after his acquittal in the Shashinath Jha murder case after being behind bars for nine months.

A large number of supporters gathered outside the jail to receive the former Coal minister.

The Delhi high court on Thursday acquitted Soren and four others in the Shashinath Jha murder case of 1994 in which he was accused of plotting murder of his former private secretary.

Soren, who had been serving a life term since November 28 last year, was brought here from Tihar jail in January after a Jamtara court issued a production warrant asking him to appear before it in the Chirudih massacre case of 1975. He had subsequently received bail in the case.

Soren's counsel B N Manjhi, meanwhile, moved a petition today in the Jamtara court pleading recall of the production warrant it served against Soren.

Jharkhand HRD minister Bandhu Tirkey, Health minister and Bhanu Pratap Sahi were among those who were present to receive Soren.

Soren got into a car and left as his followers burst crackers, smeared 'gulal' (colours) on each other and raised slogans.
