KOLKATA: The latest entrants to the outsourcing culture are gangs operating in Bengal, who have begun to contract supari killing to criminals in Bangladesh. The move is aimed at making it difficult for the police to establish links between the actual killers and the gangs.

Findings of the state Intelligence Branch (IB) indicate that gangs based in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and even Mahrashtra are taking the help of their Bengal associates to appoint Bangladeshi supari killers on assignment basis.

“The recent crackdown by the Bangladeshi police on the underworld there has forced many supari killers to go underground. They now offer themselves at throwaway prices,” a senior IB official said.

“They come to India via West Bengal for assignments and leave immediately after completing their assignments.

“This makes it difficult for the police to establish their link with other contract killers,” he said.
The phenomenon came to notice when sleuths arrested noted Bangladeshi ‘supari’ killer, T Ahmed, last month along with one of his associates from an Indo-Bangladesh border village in North 24-Parganas district in West Bengal.
