MUMBAI: The Justice Sachchar Committee report on the status of Muslims in the country is likely to come up for discussion during the ongoing monsoon session of
Parliament.

"This has been intimated in a letter by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi to us last night", NCP general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Tariq Anwar said here on Sunday while speaking on a seminar on the report.

Dasmunsi was scheduled to attend the seminar but had to rush to his Raiganj Parliamentary constituency in West Bengal last night due to floods, Anwar said.

"However, the minister has written to us, saying the Sachar report may come up for discussion during the ongoing monsoon session", he said.

Anwar said Muslims do not want a special status but only their due share and "the dream of a strong India would be fulfilled only when all people in the country get equal
rights".

The Justice Rangnath Misra committee report also suggests that "Muslims will not get their rights till they are given separate reservations", Anwar said.

On the report of the Srikrishna Commission which probed 1992-93 Mumbai riots, Anwar said "we cannot progress till there is a feeling that justice is being done".
