Toeing the Shiv Sena line the state BJP on Sunday warned of launching an agitation if government reopened the 1992-93 riot cases in the name of implementing the Srikrishna Commission report.

The state BJP president Nitin Gadkari said, “If government implements Srikrishna Commission report to appease the minorities and harass the innocent people the BJP will take to streets.”

Both Shiv Sena and BJP undergoing strained political relationship have adopted identical strategy on Srikrishna report. Terming the report as politically biased, Gadkari said, “ It is unfortunate that Congress was politicising such a sensitive matter.” The report has already been debated and the earlier government has already presented the action taken report.

Commenting on BJP ties with Sena, he said, “We are still in the process of consulting our district officials. Once the entire exercise is completed we will report the matter to our central leader.” Earlier, the BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde also indicated that final decision on alliance with Sena will be taken by month-end.

Earlier, the Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray had categorically stated that Sena was interested in continuing the alliance with BJP. The Sena leaders maintained that their alliance will continue and they have no problems with BJP.
