CHENNAI: Fifty-day-old Akshita has become the country's youngest PAN card holder, beating a record set by Mumbai's Krishhey Thacker.

The baby girl, born on June 20, received the card on August three when she was just 44 days old.

Her father S Balamurugan, an employee of the Integral Coach Factory here, said he obtained the PAN card after he decided to make investments in Akshita's name to secure her future.

"As I was told that a PAN card was essential to invest in mutual funds and stocks, I applied for one for my baby," he said.

Akshita beat the record set recently by two-month-old Thacker.

Insisting that he did not apply for a PAN card for the sake of setting a record, Balamurugan said, "However, we're thrilled that our baby has become a record-holder".
