Railway revenue earnings up by 10.49 per cent

NEW DELHI: The earnings of Indian Railways have gone up to Rs 21,787.89 crore during April-July in the current fiscal compared to Rs 19,718.67 crore during the same
period last year, registering an increase of 10.49 per cent.
    
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs 13,328.01 crore during April to July last year to Rs 14,593.02 crore during the same period this year showing an increase of 9.49 per cent, a Railway Ministry statement said.
    
The total passenger earnings during the first four months of the current fiscal were Rs 6331.14 crore compared to Rs 5677.59 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of Rs 11.51 per cent.
    
The revenue earnings from coaching amounted to Rs 611.18 crore compared to Rs 521.12 crore last year, showing an increase of 17.12 per cent.
    
The total sundry earnings have gone up from Rs 191.95 crore to Rs 251.85 crore in the current fiscal.
    
The total approximate number of passengers booked during April-July were 2206.55 million compared to 2094.02 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.37 per cent, it said.
    

The number of passengers booked in the suburban and non-suburban sectors were 1196.67 million and 1009.88 million respectively compared to 1138.52 million and 955.50 million during the same period last year.
