BJP threatens to move apex court if justice is denied

GOA: Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat left for New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon to meet President Pratibha Patil and present his side of the story, amid rumours that President’s rule will be imposed in the state.

“It’s our turn to meet the President to brief her about our position,” Kamat said before leaving for the capital. GDA MLAs had met the President on Saturday and paraded 21 MLAs to prove that they had the majority.

All the 20-members of the Goa Democratic Alliance (GDA), headed by BJP opposition leader Manohar Parrikar, also headed for New Delhi to call on the President. BJP state unit president Shripad Naik said his party would move the SC, “if we don’t get justice from the President”.

Kamat, however, remained unfazed. “Let them move court. We are not worried because we have not done anything wrong.”
